A cyber security company, Kaspersky Lab has found that North Korea was part of the cyber attack on the Central Bank of Bangladesh, as a result the bank lost $81 million.

Kaspersky Lab is a Russian cyber security company which focuses on the cyber-related issues around the world. They published a report on a group of hackers, Lazarus, who were related to the thefts of funds, and attack on the Sony Pictures in November 2014.

According to the researchers, the hackers directly connected to the IP address of the servers in Europe, and they used to control the infected systems. Due to some technical mistakes they did, it was discovered by the researchers.

Vitaly Kamluk, a researcher at Kaspersky Lab said that for the first time they recorded a  relationship between the DPRK and Lazarus. So, it is inappropriate to say that North Korea was behind the attack on the Central Bank of Bangladesh.

In the beginning of February 2016, the hackers got access to the account of the Central Bank of Bangladesh, and they transferred $81 Million to different accounts in the Philippines and Sri Lanka.

Initially, the hackers tried to steal  $850 million, but the bank officials immediately sent the orders to withdraw payment orders. The stolen money is being used in the gambling business in the Philippines.
